How to get the perfect makeup in 5 minutes

OMG... you slept in - again! Gosh darn daylight savings time! You didn't hear the alarm and now you have 5 minutes to do your makeup. Lucky for you, we have the answer!

Read on and meet your new favorite routine, 5 steps in 5 minutes!

Step 1: HYDRATE YOUR SKIN

Apply a serum and moisturizer suited to your skin type - This is the most important part in the whole routine. This will ensure the longevity of your makeup and help your skin look smooth. Apply a dollop of your favorite one and pat in (not smear) into the skin, this will help it absorb.

Step 2: GET AN EVEN SKIN TONE WITH FOUNDATION

When you don't have 40 minutes to get ready, you want a foundation that will multi-task. Choose a buildable medium coverage foundation so you can layer it in the areas you feel a need a little extra like under the eyes and around the nose. Bonus points if it has skin loving ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, squalene or niacinamide.

Our choice is: MAC's Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation.

Step 3: ADD BLUSH TO ADD SOME LIFE TO THE CHEEKS

Your complexion is bomb but it needs something more... the clock is ticking and you still have eyes, lips and brows to do! Grab a multiuse cream blush stick like the Multi-Stick Cream Blush by Ilia. Warm the formula up by applying a small amount to the back of your hand, dab the product with your fingers and apply directly to your mid-cheek area and tap the product to blend. You are so close to getting the perfect makeup in 5 minutes

Step 4: ENHANCE YOUR EYES

Take a stick eyeshadow like Laura Mercier's Caviar Stick Eye Shadow and lightly rub some colour onto your lids. Once it's on smooth the edge with your finger tip. To complete the eyes, add some mascara. Dab the applicator wand onto the outer edges of the lashes and then take the applicator for another go and sweep it through the lashes from root to tip.

Step 5: THE FINISHING TOUCH - LIPS

It is time to gooooo! Take that Ilia blush stick, rub a little bit off the top with your finger and blot onto the lips, then smoosh the lips together. Add a tiny bit of lip gloss or balm to keep those lips moisturized and YOU'RE DONE!

Here you go! In just 5 minutes, with 5 simple steps and 5 essential products, you'll be ready to step out the door. Don't let a hectic morning rush compromise your makeup routine. Even if you only have a minute, throw these products into a makeup bag and apply your makeup on the go, whether it's on the subway or in the destination's bathroom. It's a speedy yet highly portable beauty routine!
